Vote "NO" on Illinois HB1826.

Dear Representative Holbrook:

I am writing concerning an upcoming vote on HB1826, legislation that would legalize civil unions.

The bill is written to allow unmarried heterosexual and homosexual couples to enter civil unions.

HB1826 provides that the "protections, benefits, and responsibilities of partners in a civil union are the same as those granted to spouses in a marriage."This legislation equates homosexual unions with heterosexual marriage.

It reduces every marriage in Illinois to a civil union, and for the misguided purpose of affirming homosexual relationships - something marriage cannot do.

Please vote "NO" on HB1826.

I received your email regarding House Bill 1826.

I appreciate you taking the time to contact me. As state representative for the 113th District, I rely on your input to do my job.

I do not support gay marriage or civil unions in any form. I believe this concept undermines the values that are important and sacred to our community and our state. I will oppose HB 1826 if it should come to a vote in the House of Representatives.

Again, thank you for contacting me with your concerns.

If I can be of further assistance to you on this or any other issue, please feel free to contact me at my constituent service office.

Sincerely,

Thomas Holbrook
State Representative
113th District
